McClure Company Partners with Essex County Public Schools to Drive Long-Term Energy Savings
McClure Company is proud to announce a new partnership with Essex County Public Schools, following the school board’s unanimous approval of a comprehensive energy conservation and infrastructure modernization initiative.
With project costs capped at $1.68M and projected savings of more than $4.5M over the next 20 years, this effort will allow the district to reinvest in what matters most—students, classrooms, and teachers.
Phase One Highlights
To maximize year-end energy tax credits and reduce long-term operational costs, McClure Company will lead critical upgrades across all three campuses, including:
• Solar roof installations at James H. Cary Intermediate School and Essex High School through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), enabling zero upfront cost and sustainable energy savings for the next 10–25 years.
• LED lighting upgrades to replace outdated fluorescent fixtures, improving efficiency and reducing maintenance needs.
• Building envelope improvements such as sealing cracks around doors, windows, and foundations to reduce energy loss.
• Replacement of aging HVAC systems—particularly at TES—addressing systems long beyond their useful life.
“The savings potential is incredible—nearly $4.6M over two decades, resulting in a net positive of $2.9M for the division,” said Chrissy Sherriff, Account Executive at McClure Company.
Impact on Students & Classrooms
While students may not see the equipment behind the scenes, teachers look forward to the benefits these savings can bring—such as more classroom supplies, improved learning environments, and greater staffing support.
Building a Sustainable, Student-Centered Future
We’re honored to support Essex County Public Schools as they build “Pathways to Excellence” and take meaningful steps toward a more energy-efficient, fiscally responsible future.
