East Lycoming School District – Leveraging All Energy Possibilities

Over a decade long span, East Lycoming School District has made use of energy performance contracting to convert its five facilities from energy gluttons to certified Energy Stars. McClure Company has worked with the District to implement virtually every possible energy conservation measure (ECM) including lighting replacements, building envelope upgrades, window replacements, HVAC efficiency and automatic temperature controls. Renewable energy measures included two earth coupled geothermal heat pump loops, a wood chip biomass heating system, a 600 kW solar photovoltaic array, and a small scale wind turbine.

East Lycoming’s portfolio of projects, blended with smart energy management practices by the administration, has made a lasting impact on the District’s operational costs. The District’s buildings, originally built between 1925 and 1972, are now outperforming most brand new “green buildings.”
