Owner: Mifflinburg Area School District
Location: Mifflinburg, PA
Project Cost: $13,729,270
For more than a decade, Mifflinburg Area School District had a vision to implement an alternative fuel heating system that used sustainable, locally sourced materials. Over the course of several years, McClure worked closely with the District and Administration, eventually completing an Investment Grade Audit to develop a comprehensive energy savings project that addressed their major needs, goals and priorities – including design and construction of a Central Biomass Heating Plant. The wood chip biomass plant became the cornerstone of the District’s larger Guaranteed Energy Savings Agreement.
McClure Company managed all development, preconstruction, and construction activities for the project. When it came time for construction, our team had to be creative and conscientious to successfully and safely complete the project on schedule and on budget during the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire project will save the District more than $19 million over the course of 20 years.
