McClure Company Emphasizes Fall Prevention During OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down

Each May, the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) leads a National Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in the construction industry. A Safety Stand-Down is an educational awareness week where employers and employees across the country voluntarily take time out of their work schedules to focus on safety measures that can mitigate the risk of falls.

This year OSHA’s Stand Down is being held May 6-10, 2019. During this week, and year-round, McClure Company is dedicated to promoting safe work habits in ways that resonate with our employees. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death nationwide, and we are committed to making fall protection a top priority.

To reinforce our commitment to safety and ensure our employees do not suffer fall-related injuries, McClure Company is participating in the Stand-Down in several ways. McClure Company “Competent Persons” will thoroughly inspect all pieces of fall protection (harnesses, connectors, and anchorage devices), document the inspection, conduct “Tool Box Talks,” and review fall prevention training videos and other resources with their teams. McClure employees participating in the stand down will also be provided with a 2019 Stand-Down sticker for their hard hat.

Although safe work environments are a priority year-round, OSHA’s Stand-Down is a great opportunity to encourage smart fall prevention measures. Every day, we step into offices and onto job sites ready for another day’s work. In our roles we face many choices, but none are more important than the choice to work safe. When we focus on safety, we work towards the goal of achieving a zero-injury workplace. As individuals, project teams, and an entire company, we choose to build a stronger, safer industry.

“At McClure Company, we aspire to hold ourselves to the highest standard of safety possible. We focus on safety because it’s the right thing to do for our employees, our industry and the communities in which we live and work. We are committed to continuously improving our safety culture and sending each employee home safe every day.”
